Cooking Up A Storm

people-rachel-demoAt the end of last month you might have noticed some mouth-watering smells exuding from around Lichfield, and especially at our Tipper’s branch! On Saturday August 31st and Sunday September 1st Lichfield Food Festival 2013 was in full swing around the city.

CookersAndOvens were once again heavily involved with the festival by letting TV chef Rachel Green loose on our range cookers to perform a cookery demonstration for the festival. Rachel from Lincolnshire is known for her passionate support of local produce and her rustic British cooking. Author of two popular recipe books Sausages: Making the most of the great British sausage and Rachel Green’s Chatsworth Cookery Book, she has also appeared on BBC3’s Kill It! Cook It! Eat It! and UKTV Style’s Farm of Fussy Eaters.

Rachel Green with her fansDroves of people entered our purpose built kitchen showroom to sample Rachel’s herb crusted lamb, queen of puddings and plum cupcakes. Rachel’s recipes were easy to follow but full of flavour and even sometimes a bit surprising – who knew wild rabbit, chorizo and squid would be a match made in heaven!

Our second star of the show was the Falcon 900 Deluxe Induction in Stainless Steel. Rachel was really able to show what a powerful cooker can do to improve your dishes and reduce cooking time whilst being kind to the environment as well!

Below are two videos we took of the day to give you a taster of what the Food Festival was like. Remember, our kitchen showrooms in the midlands are open all year round with functional models of many of our products, so please do feel free to pop in for a test drive!
