During the Lichfield Food Festival Simon Smith has organised a jam packed weekend of cookery demonstrations to be held in market square. The demonstrations are supported by the main sponsor Central England Co-Op, who will be supplying all of the ingredients to the chefs throughout the whole event.
The demonstrations will cover a wide range of culinary techniques and feature top chefs from the Midlands:
Simon Smith himself, who runs a catering business both in Lichfield and the South of France will be giving out some great culinary tips and tricks using produce from Central England Co-Op.
Paul Gilmore of renowned Restaurant Gilmore will be cooking with local ingredients and showing us how to bring out the best of flavours with passion.
Matt Davies, Executive Head Chef of the Lewis Partnership and Moat House, Acton Trussle, will be demonstrating gourmet cuisine for which he has earned many accolades.
Daniel Jones, Artisan Chocolatier and Development Chef at Ludlow Food Centre will talk about and demonstrate the finer points of chocolate.
Richard Turner, local Lichfield lad and head chef at Turners one star Michelin restaurant in Birmingham, will be showing off the finer points of Michelin dishes.
Paul Bough, demonstration chef for Henckel Zwilling knives will be demonstrating the best knife techniques and cooking dishes from his large repertoire as a cookery instructor.
Duncan Hindley of Hindleys bakery in Lichfield will be showing the audience how to make the perfect loaf.
Umberto from Ristorante Sorrento in Lichfield will be making the perfect pasta and sharing his passion for Italian food.
Tommy from the Ruby restaurant in Lichfield brings us his brand new Chinese dishes created specially for the food festival.
Trevor Hancock, chef aboard super yachts and to the British Arctic Survey Team will be demonstrating his repertoire and talking about the problems of catering on an ice cap!
From beginning to end this is a great line up of talent covering a huge range of culinary techniques, styles and continents. There will be something here for everyone whatever their interest or cooking capabilities.

Simon Smith has had a varied worldwide culinary career. He has worked at the British embassies in both Paris and Vienna, a wedding in New York for 4,000 and worked as a private chef aboard super yachts for the 2012 Monaco Grand Prix. During the summer of 2013 he spent two months working in luxury villas and chateaux in St Tropez as private chef.
Catering now from his production kitchen in Lichfield, he provides dinner parties, wedding catering, cookery demonstrations and cookery skills days for between one and four people.
