Today’s Tuesday Top Tip is inspired after I made a lemon meringue pie and burnt myself on the side of the pan in the process. I was amazed at just how long you are meant to hold the burn under a cool tap for – 10 to 30 minutes! It was quite a bad burn so I really persisted to keep it under the tap for as long as possible, taking it out for a minute or two and then putting it back under. The skin has so many layers it’s important to cool the burning down in the deep layers as well as just the surface layers and it really helped with the pain. I was sure that the burn would scar but it healed up beautifully and really quickly! It might seem like you’re holding your hand under the tap for an excessively long time, but it’s really worth it.
